A number of times I have blogged about wanting to write more music. I have for you today, oh followers of gallaghr, a song that I wrote recently and means a lot to me.

It’s called “My Own Name”.

I wanted to write a song that was general enough in it’s words that it’s message could be molded to any numerous specific instance’s people can encounter in life.

We all make mistakes in life and with these mistakes, more often then not, come consequences. Now you can say “I never give a damn about my bad reputation”, Joan Jett, but I think deep down we all care - a little bit - on some level…what people think about us.

And this song kind of side steps that idea. Yes - it’s okay to care what people think of you, but don’t let it control you. Your future is your own. The unknown is what you make it. Don’t live but what you’ve done but by what you’re going to do about it.

Anyway. I’ll let you interpret it how ever you would like to.

And I would like to give a special thanks to Sean Lee who composed the string part! He worked his butt off from the get-go to do it completely pro bono (giggity).
